Greetings,

I am trying to compile a list of all the reef and coral stores in the NYC/NJ Metro area. Please reply with the name and address of any store you know of in or around that area. I will be posting this list as a public resource in the near future.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Josh, these stores maybe to far east for the list that you are compiling, but these are the stores I frequent ...
The Pet Barn, Franklin Ave. Franklin Square
Fishtown USA, Northern Blvd Flushing
Petswarehouse, Sunrise Hwy, Copiague

I also make the trip once in awhile way out east to Country Critters.

The only real reef store in NYC is New World Aquarium, they're between 2nd and 3rd somewhere around the high 30's or low 40's. Very expensive.

In NJ, I go to AquaTropics (I think it's called Absolutely Fish now, new owner) on route 46 just east of the merge with route 3, I think it's in Montclair, maybe Clifton.

Farther south, on Route 22 about 20-25 minutes west of Newark Airport is Ocean Gallery II in N. Plainfield. Also a good store.

Best store in the tri-state area is Reef & Fin in Stamford, CT. Prices are a little high, but it's worth it (and the trip). They have spectacular display tanks, and a great selection.

Mare Nostrum in Elmsford - Route 9A and 119 - is ok. They have a good selection or fish corals and inverts but the prices could be better. The prior owner had better prices but he is serving 25 years to life for extrecurricular activities.

I haven't been there in about a year but they had a pretty good variety of marine fish, live rocks etc.

I was just at Underwater World in Roselle Park, NJ. It's about a mile off the GSP (Garden State Parkway, not...)
Pretty nice (small) store, about half marine. Large selection of fish, LPS and softies, in tanks with crushed coral substrate. Water was clean and fish looked beautiful, can't argue with that. Lots of pest anemones, both aiptasia AND anemonia. One small tank with acros. $70 mushroom rocks! Fish prices more reasonable.
