Do a search on this subject. There are plenty of post already on this issue. I'm gonna tell you Aqua-C but others will tell you a whole range of other brands.
If you do a search here and at RC you'll find that most people who have used them will suggest either a Beckets head skimmer like the Bullets, MyReef skimmer or a Euro-reef. I have seen a few post by people who have used both and all of them choose to stay with their Euro-reefs. Its the best skimmer I have ever used or seen.
The best and easiest protein skimmer IMO is the CPR Cyclone BakPak. This skimmer is reef ready and very easy to use plug it in and check the collection cube every other day or so. Great skimmer and not to expensive about 145.00 or so.
I am extremely pleased with the preformance of my AquaC EV-180 on my 120, it has just blown me away. I can only assume that the other skimmers will be amazing, the larger EV-240 is supposed to be 3x more effective, and there's even larger models. www.proteinskimmer.com
thanks everyone for the help on RO units. I bought a 65 gal Kent HiS Maxima RO/DI unit. Its on its way here now. Now I need to know what skimmer you all recommend. It would be for a 180 or 220 gal tank. thanks in advance. Lynn

I would say a Bullet 3, AquaC 240 or the Euroreef. I do not know the availability of the Euroreef from Cdn online retailers, J&L sells the other two. I have an older version Aqua C, the EV 200 on my 245 and am quite happy with it. My recomendation of the Euroreef is based on all the positive feedback from happy owners.
OK I've decided on the Euroreef. Can you tell me if they come in different sizes?? my tanks going to be 180 or 220) also where is the best place to order one? Looks like Im going to have to bite the bullet and trade some of my cdn funds into US funds! YIKE!!
Lynn, first off check out the Euro-reef site at
euro-reef.com
They can also answer a lot of questions about fit, etc.
You will then have to buy from a retailer:
A couple of choices are reeffanatic.com
and premiumaquatics.com, and there are also others. All good. Email me privately if you want to know some details.
