I was looking at my tank this morning before work and I noticed these things swimming around. They look like tadpoles, they are all white and are about 1/16 long. They are alive because I witnessed them wagging their tails trying to swim.

I have 1 maroon clown, 1 watchman goby, a peppermint and cleaner shrimp, lots of hermits and snails and a hitchhiker pistol shrimp.

Any idea what these things could be?

Thanks IA
Bob

I'd guess the hermits, since you only have 1 of each of the other critters (except the snails). Back when I had a bunch of hermits in my tank, and nothing else, I used to see what you described about once a month. They'd seem to just drift around, and sometimes twitch or wiggle to swim a bit. They would always hatch overnight and I would see them first thing in the morning. Now that most of my hermits have died off I don't see it anymore.

They are too small to tell if they are mysis shrimp. Probably wont stick around long enough to develop into anything, though. If they are hermits I'm gonna need some small shells.

If they are around on a long term basis, they are prolly mysis shrimp. If you don't see them again, they could also be cleaner or peppermint release.. have you noticed any green eggs on the underside of either shrimp recently that might be missing now?
