Turboflotor 1000 Skimmer, good, bad?

I'm getting ready to setup a new 125G reef. I just ordered a Turboflotor 1000 skimmer. I saw a few complaints about the air intake getting clogged in another post. Is this a major problem? Does this clog with the RIO 2100 or the old pump they used to sell with the skimmer? Should I send the skimmer back and look at another brand? I've read great reviews about them and know a fellow reefer that uses one without any problems. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I use a turboflotor multi 1000 in the hang on mode on my 75. It pulls out alot of dark stinky foam all the time, and IMO is a great skimmer. I never had any clogs and maintance is a snap.

I also believe the LARGEST tank this skimmer can handle is a 75. For a 125 you might start looking at the larger skimmers.

ive got a t1000 on my 125 and it works great. i was going to buy a new skimmer but decided to add an airpump to the venturi line on this one and boy what a difference it made, much better than stock. btw the t1000 and multi HOB are rated for up too 250 gallons.

thats what i did for mine as well on my 125 put the air pump on and wow i have to clean it out everynite... i love it

I have one that I used on my 55G. Whe it worked, man it really worked. Mine has a problem with the air injectors getting clogged. I had to clean it out REGULARLY! (read once a week)

I had one on a 125 reef for a few years and it worked great. I think it will do 125 gal but not as efficient as some of the larger downdraft skimmers but I'm not looking to overskim. Here's a shot of it in action:

Notine the dark gunk it pulls out. Great skimmer for the money IMO. Bob
