they had quickcrete play sand , or another brand made by fairplay and it was "straight from the caribean"white, sreened and sterilized.
Im pretty sure the second was the obvious choice but just wanted to make sure there wasnt a third brand.
Has anyone had a silicate problem from any of these sands?
only 2.85/per bag.

I bought mine at the HD in Totowa. They had a couple of skids of it in the gardening section.

I just bought 5 bags at the HD in VAUXHALL, NJ. You might to check that place quick cause they're almost out of the stuff. 5 bags came out to a total of $20.35. Real cheap. I'm lucky I got my hands on some of this stuff.

South Down is the one we all want. But that other sand sounds good too.Caribbean, sterilized, and screened.Sounds like the same stuff. If you are worried, run a magnet over the sand to see if there is a lot of metal in it.I would also do the vinegar test to see if it is truly alkaline.

Southdown sand info:
It helps if you have the SKU when you visit or call. The Southdown sand is 578-819.

BUT make sure that it says Southddown tropical playsand -- not multipurpose sand. Also, from a recent post,

"To help things along if you call Home Depot or go there the product is found in one of two places. It is found by the lumber or in the Garden Center. The Garden Center manager is who does the ordering and that is "division" or "section" 28 (Garden). "

That's correct, Yardright is packaged by the same company. Yardright comes in 40 lb bags. Southdown in 50 lb bags.

For this year, the packaging will be called Old Castle Products.
