What is a reasonable price to sell your prized Xenia? I know some sell it to their LFS and others aquaculture and sell to others reefers.
I've seen it for $25/head online for X. elongata from at least 2 aquafarmers. Thanks

I get $15 store credit for rock with three trunks, sometimes more if they're really big colonies. LFS turns around and tries to sell them for $60.

We've been giving it away most of the time. We have a strain of Xenia elongata originally from Premium Aquatics over a year ago that just keeps on truckin'. It is quite hardy and beautiful but grows a bit too fast for its own good!

I get $10 store credit for my Xenia elongata. Typically each rock has about 3 or 4 stalks. The LFS sells them for somewhere between $50 - $60, as I recall. Incidentally, I get the same price for colt, which takes considerably longer to cultivate then Xenia.

In gerneral, as you can see above, the LFS usually rips you off when you try to trade it in. In fact, around here I cant even find any more LFS to take my xenia off my hands because there are so many people with it. I have changed to trying to either trade/sell it to other reefers so you may want to try that route. But I used to get about the same as above, $5/stalk.

In this area, Xenia is considered a weed and far from "prized" especially elongata. A few years ago I was getting $20 a stalk from my LFS, now no one wants it.

Plus I agree with all of the people who hate selling it to the LSFs since they have to see it being sold for so much more than they credit they gave you (it is credit though I guess!).

I think your best bet to is to trade it with people who want it, and you might be able to get some pretty cool stuff.
