Got a broken light timer and told someone else (an employee actually) to turn off the MH before they leave for the weekend...............

Let's just say all aiptasia and flatworms are cooked, along with a bunch of other things.....

Also, Being careless when moving rocks next to the glass heater. Rock cracked the glass, with my bare feet on the cement floor..... I can still remember my tongue trembling and jaws locked before the breaker tripped. Too bad no one was next to me otherwise they could tell me if my hair is smoking too just like the movie!

Oh, one last advice for all folks, Never use a hose to siphon out a dead anemone. Why? Because where the hose became reduced (eg, towards the end or at the kink) the anemone may stuck. And I tried to give it a stronger suction by sucking it out from the other end............Ewwwwwwwwwwww!

danmhippo -O.k o.k You win the trophy!!! YUK yuk and triple yuk..

I once did a water change after returning from a vacation without removing any water; only added salt water. The clown fish spinned in circle until I got some fresh water in there. ( The salinity was off the scale.

I treated my first reef with copper to cure a fish with ick. (ignorance was not bliss). killed the reef except for the fish.

I tried to unplug a power head while my hands were still very wet and got a very good shock! And it was not the last time, but a few times after that. Guess I didn't learn from my stupid mistake.

Bought a tiny toby puffer and put it with a giant aiptasia anemone, thinking the not-reef-safe puffer would munch on the anemone. Well, it did--but the anemone munched back. I was at work and couldn't intervene.

Another one is the opposite of rlp's unplugged heater situation (though I've done that before too, setting up a tank after a move, forgot to double check all the plugs). I got a brand new heater free with a bucket of salt. It looked so great that I got rid of my old chintzy one and put the new one in the night I got it. The next morning, I didn't bother to check my tank temp on the way out the door to work. That night, the apartment smelled like poached fish, and I actually checked the kitchen to see if my roommate was cooking before I remembered the new tank heater.

I've got even more but I think I've humiliated myself enough for right now.

Cliped a 6" fan on my tank during the summer to keep it cool. Of course I knocked it in while it was running. Very cool sound and adds a special decorating touch. Fortunately I caught it before the motor submerged. No electricution, no dead fish, no dead me.
P.S. don't grab anything electrical that falls in your tank.
