I was reading several posts about using an air pump with this skimmer. I have this skimmer and tried to hook an air pump into the the air injector. All this does is stall the pump, and it pumps no water. Anyone that has done this please let me know how you did it without stopping the pump. I even cut the air flow down, and it only works at a trickle, which is basicaly no more than what it was drawing on its own, without the pump.

I have a multi 1000 and it works just fine. It is one of the best skimmers available in the UK. If it is set up correctly and its pump impellor is not damaged it will produce a cloud of fine bubbles that will do the business. I found that after a long period of use the bubble cloud was reducing a bit and was advised by the UK agent that once a month it is a good idea to syringe some warm water thro the air intake of the pump to ensure that it is kept clear. After doing this the skimmer went back to working normaly. The only skimmer that beats it is a Deltec which most in the UK would agree is the best available anywhere.

Maybe this is way off the mark, but are you running the air pump to the powerhead's venturi as opposed to the black air intake hose on the skimmer? That's the only way I can see of your stopping the pump. I run a Whisper 600 on my sump-style Turboflotor, and even with all that extra air have never had any problems. HTH...
