What lfs do you use and what do you think of it/them? I would like some recommendations - I wouldn't mind a road trip for a nice store.

Haven't we gone down this road before
icon_biggrin.gif
. I checked out most of the LFS in Plattsburg earlier this year, not worth the trip. I haven't checked out Chazy Lake Tropicals though. Most of the stores I went to have reefs/fish tanks of poorer quality than I see around here(VT) but that was during one trip so I shouldn't judge on one trip. I noticed a small pet store in Glenns Falls, but didn't have the chance to stop by, I don't have an address. It was in the north part of town.

You're way up there fish? I'm looking for stores to the west of me since (apparently) there aren't any up north worth visiting.

What do you have, about 3 feet of snow so far? Right it's early yet - 2 feet?

Was gorgeous here today - did some hiking up by Lake George.

Saturday was a fine day for trolling Lake Champlain for salmon. There was a little bit of chop out there, perfect salmon conditions. I had chicken for dinner

. Lake George is about 40 min. as the crow flies from where I live. The Champlain Valley is also known as the banana belt around here.

Have you been down to Paragon Aquatics in CT yet? They have a retail store now. I think the store is south of Hartford. I checked out what Mike had in his garage before the move. Very good looking selection of corals. I may have to swing down there during the holidays to check out the new store. Aqua Dreams is western MA also has a new store as well.

I live in brooklyn, NY we have a few nice LFS here, but they are kind of pricey, so I shop for my live stock and equipment from the net, I only get the knick knacks from the LFS and an occasionall coral or fish, cya.

FWIW, there's a big reefer gathering brewing over on Reef Central. About 20 (or more) people meeting at Paragon Aquatics on Sunday 18 November. Look for the Connecticut Reefers thread.

I have two LFS's that I frequent in the Binghamton area and one that I frequent in Latham (which I'm sure you already are familiar with, tangirl). The one in Latham (Eddie's Aquarium) has the two in the Binghamton area beat by a long shot, as far as corals go, but that's not really saying a whole lot. It seems like there should be something decent in the Syracuse area but I've not heard about it. I've only been to about one LFS ever that I was very impressed with (but my experiences are very limited) and that was Inland Reef Aquaria in Nashua, NH. I get more excitement shopping the online stores.

I mostly go down to connecticut or long island for reef stores. I heard a while here that there was one opening in westchester, and I suppose the one being mentioned is probably the same. Somebody kick me when it opens, please.

There is supposedly a good place near rochester- is it called caribbean forest or something?

Also I used to go to wet n wild in westchester (Peekskill?), but that has dwindled down to about nothing last I checked. There was a good store in whatever that town dick van dyck was supposedly from but that closed. The same guy now owns http://www.rarecorals.com/ but it obviously isn't ready for prime time.

One of these days I'll get out to nashua.

this store is out in the farmlands, if you don't have directions you will never find it. They have 24 180 gallon tanks just for corals.
icon_biggrin.gif
over 3000 lbs in live rock, I have already been there, and I saw SPS corals bigger than your hand. Now, the owners understand that not everyone can house a coral that size so they have from frags all the way up. They carry a full line of all top name products And their show tank is to die for, Image 96" x 48" x 36". All tanks including the vats for the live rock and live sand are lite with metal halides.

P.S. Phat Fish, this place makes abulsotely fish look like child's play
