Has anyone ever dived in Costa Rica?

We're planning our next dive trip and I was thinking about Costa Rica. I've always wanted to go there(ocean, rain forest, volcanos). I searched the internet and found out that there is some nice reefs on the Carribean side. Anyone?

My wife just informed me that all the hotels were blown away in the last hurricane, so our vacation plans for Feb. will be elsewhere. I have never been there.

I LOVE Costa Rica.
I have not dived in Costa Rica but I have traveled the country surfing on seven different occasions. It is a great place to go and offers the whole package for someone looking for a little adventure while maintaining a feeling of safety. The people are the best in the world and will literally give you the shirts off there backs if you asked them to.
However, you are entering the rainy season right now. So unless you don't mind a little rain(or a lot of rain), you may want to wait until January.

About 6 years ago I went to costa rica and snorkled on the Pacific side. I believe it was called Playa Tambor.It is a penusula on the pacific side. You can take the bus thier. Try staying in a town called Montazuma (good times). But watch out for the rainy season its brutal. Spent a few nights dodging lighting bolts.

The rainy season sure is brutal... I got stuck in Guapiles, CR for 4 days. Landslides on the road ahead of us and the road behind us provided us with 4 funfilled, rainsoaked days in Guapiles. We still had a good time, though.... pitching coins with friendly banana truckers and and visiting the local watering hole for a little banter in broken Spanish.

Definitely a dicey time to be in Central America.

We rented a jeep and went 4X4 ing through the jungle. Crossing rivers and such. when all of a sudden we came across a hand painted sign that said Zorba the Greeks resturant. We drove down a ways and found some tables set up on the beach. (blew my mind) We parked and went over and were met by this huge guy with a deep accent.Well we drank and ate lobster all night. It turns out Zorba was a canuck from TO. We stayed their for two days. Great times.
