Great way to clean bubble algae!

a metal letter opener.....it's great with the point for getting around the corals and the flat edge for scraping large patches. You may want to wear goggles as they squirt sometimes. Just take the rock out of the tank scrape over a towel or 5 gal bucket and put the rock back in the tank or you may choose to rinse it in a bucket of old tank water right after a water change.

I assume you are talking about Valonia sp., Dictyospheria sp., or Ventricaria sp. correct? Keep in mind that popping them might cause the outbreak to get worse. As the bubbles mature they contain spores, and if broken this can cause them to spread more rapidly. It's best to try to remove them whole.

Using a letter opener may sound like fun, but keep in mind that there are some risks involved. Definitely rinse the rock if you choose to remove the algae this way.

unfortunately mine seems to grow on the rocks towards the bottom

This was all done outside the tank and I rinsed the rock off before I put it back in the tank.
