Hi folks! After reading a plethora of articles on the DSB theory and grain size, etc. I am still perplexed by one question.

What are you guys using for your DSB? I have heard of aragonite, crushed marble, etc.. What would you recommend? This might be subject to availability for me in Australia too!

CaribSea Aragamax Sugar sized sand @ a depth of 3'. But thats what i would use, there are lots of alternatives. Check out the CaribSea web site for more ideas. But thats if its in the tank, for my refugium i was going to go 50% 50% with Aragamax and Miracle mud.

After reading those articles, the most important piece of information to take away is the average grain size of 0.25mm (millimeters). This is not crushed coral, marble, or anything resembling shells.

Lots of people use ESV sand, Southdown Sand, or www.purearagonite.com sand, which are all the appropriate size.
