Hi:
I"LL contribute here. So your asking is a green wolf eel a better choice than a dwarf moray?
IMO neither of these two choices is particularly a reef smart idea. but both will not bother corals(so their kinda sorta reef-safe)

So I've had both...i can tell you emphatically that the green wolf eel (which you know is not an eel, but a pseduochormis) will prevent you from having many other fish in your tank.

These guys are one of the most aggressive and hungry fish i have seen. In that they try to eat everything, they sample the fish tail first, and if it fits then they continue to eat it. The green wolf eel will getalong fine w/ fish it can't even sample, or get into its mouth. So if you decide on this fish plan according.
Now depending on what your calling a dwarf golden moray will decide what it will eat (the true dwarf is G melatremus, while any moray w/ the word golden in its name is usually G Miliaris. Melatremus gets about 1ft long, Milaris 2ft long)
The reason i would say the dwarf moray is you know what you get when you buy it. these morays are fish eaters(as well as shrimp eaters), but they will only potshot fish which look like it will fit into their mouths. They won't indiscrimately try all your fish on for size, and also get along w/ almost every fish which isn't food.
As far as size goes an adult wolf eel gets about 18-20" long and as thick as a bike tire. So it can eat some sizable fish, which will prevent yo from haing these fish in your tank.

So what are the planned tankmates?

Of course w/ either of these choices you can't have ANY small fish or ANY moving inverts.
my opinion

I have a green wolf eel. Basically if the other fish can't fit in its mouth you are OK. I saw mine nip at a snail one time way back, but besides that she leaves all of my critters alone. (I'm not suggesting they are OK with crabs, shrimp, etc. Just in my case).
Mine is about 13" long. She does not seem to be growing anymore. She actually seems to be old - eyesight not the best anymore (which is why I think she leaves the shrimp, crabs alone). I "inherited" mine and to be honest would like to get rid of her because of the limitations of tankmates. Just be sure that you won't change your mind about wanting to keep smaller fish down the road. Good luck..

I have a G.melatremus and he is great. I have had him about a year and he has grown from approx. 8 inches to 8 and a half inches. I have him with a cleaner shrimp (there before the eel), a tiny fridmani, and some snails and blue legs. The eel has not disturbed any decor, or any corals; and none of the inverts have disappeared.
In my opinion, this is the best aquarium eel.
By the way, I also have a G. miliaris and I would not trust him with any small fish or any shrimp. He is so crazy when it comes to eating, that he will consistently eat spirulina flakes.

I cant find out much about the green wolf eel in books or sites. I want to keep a eel in my 100g reef with no shrimps or small fish. I am considering the green wolf eel or the golden dwarf morey eel. I know the green eel reaches 45cm and the golden dwarf eel reaches 25 cm.

If anyone has any experience keeping either of these eels in a reef I would appreciate the info.

Im already have a Fu Manchu Lionfish, and a maroon clown(debating on giving the clown back to LFS).

I would like to keep a leaf fish, the Fu Manchu, a marine betta and an eel in the 100g. From your descriptions the wolf eel is out already. I think I will purchase the dwarf morey Gymnothorax Melatremus. I dont think that a foot long eel could eat the other 4-6 inch long max fish( Also pretty sure they couldnt eat the eel). Do you guys think this would work?

Fmarini I noticed you said Milaris reaches 2 feet long. Do you think its a better choice than G Melatremus for this tank?

I will never keep any small fish or shrimps(except feeder ghosts once in a while). The main purpose of this tank is to keep corals and ambush predators.

Thanks for the advice.

You will have an easier time finding the miliaris.
I would call the marine center, that is where I got both miliaris and melatremus, and ask Randy about which would be best and which he currently has in stock.
by the way just noticed where you are from:
