Hi:
I"LL contribute here. So your asking is a green wolf eel a better choice than a dwarf moray?
IMO neither of these two choices is particularly a reef smart idea. but both will not bother corals(so their kinda sorta reef-safe)
So I've had both...i can tell you emphatically that the green wolf eel (which you know is not an eel, but a pseduochormis) will prevent you from having many other fish in your tank.
These guys are one of the most aggressive and hungry fish i have seen. In that they try to eat everything, they sample the fish tail first, and if it fits then they continue to eat it. The green wolf eel will getalong fine w/ fish it can't even sample, or get into its mouth. So if you decide on this fish plan according.
Now depending on what your calling a dwarf golden moray will decide what it will eat (the true dwarf is G melatremus, while any moray w/ the word golden in its name is usually G Miliaris. Melatremus gets about 1ft long, Milaris 2ft long)
The reason i would say the dwarf moray is you know what you get when you buy it. these morays are fish eaters(as well as shrimp eaters), but they will only potshot fish which look like it will fit into their mouths. They won't indiscrimately try all your fish on for size, and also get along w/ almost every fish which isn't food.
As far as size goes an adult wolf eel gets about 18-20" long and as thick as a bike tire. So it can eat some sizable fish, which will prevent yo from haing these fish in your tank.
So what are the planned tankmates?
Of course w/ either of these choices you can't have ANY small fish or ANY moving inverts.
my opinion
frank
PS check out photos of my green wolf eel below
