This morning I found what I guess are snail eggs on the front wall of my tank. Perhaps they are something else. I'll try to post a pic and wonder if anyone can ID these for sure. If they are eggs, I wonder how long they might take to hatch out?
Thanks

Yep, those look like snail eggs. I've had several batch's laid in my tanks with little or no recruitment observed. With hungry fish I doubt that any of them make it very long when they are just hatched. If you have a refugium some might make it there though.

Thanks,
I only have three fish, a blue damsel, a green chromis, and a bicolor blenny... so maybe the eggs will be safe. I do have a sally lightfoot and some red and grey leg crabs, and would guess that they might be a threat. I hope not, but time will tell.

A friend who has just e-mailed me says they are cerith snail eggs. I do have some of both cerith and nassarius snails. reefland, your pic makes the eggs look more widely dispersed than the track of eggs I have, but maybe they are just more developed.

They are definitely cerrith snail eggs and mine lay eggs all the time. I figure most are consumed by fish, but I recently noticed abound 20 white very small cerriths under a few astrea snails. I guess they attach to other snails for protection.

Rats, The eggs have all been canibalized by something

I wonder if anyone has had success moving eggs to a safe area after they have been attached to the tank wall. Seems like it would be next to impossible to do that without harming the eggs.

Maybe next time I can build a little fence to protect them.
