my gramma is the most peacefull fish in the tank. eats everything and just loves to hang out. i have had him for 2 months now and he swims around a bit in the day but mostly parks himself sticking out of base of a big piece of leather. a perfect addition to a reef imho.

btw for 8 bucks you can't do much better than a royal gramma

Agree with above post. I've had mine for a year and he's a great addition. It's comical to watch him open that big yap and try to intimidate anyone who invades his space. I too have a purple firefish and the two of them have this ongoing grudge match. No aggression but a lot of funny posturing. I believe the grammas are more social. I've observed basslets to be more reclusive.

I luv mine. Had it about 1.5 yrs, it's constantly building a nest with small tube worms in the rock. A good choice.

I am thinking of adding one to my tank. It would be with a bangaii, two clowns, a few chromis, and a purple fire fish. Any help or info would be great??

The Royal Gramma is a great fish. I have had mine for about two months. He is the only fish in a 55gal reef so I cant really comment on his ability to get along with other fish. He is not destructive and eats like a pig.

I have a royal in one tank, but my favourite of the two is the black cap in the reef tank. Although he's skittish, if you move slow around the tank, he'll hang out there a lot. No good with other fish that feed on pods though, as he eats them all.
