Thanks guys,
I was a little nervious painting the back and regret it. I've done the mirror before but it was much harder to use the magnetic cleaner to clean the back wall off (and it strangly disturbed the fish, they would spend hours smashing themselves into their image). I'm going to go with the black to match the tank (otherwise I was going to do blue). I appreciate the input.

I think a nice picture of Osama bin Laden with Bert sitting on his left shoulder looks best. However in my case the background is anthelia, green zooanthids, corraline algae and salt creep.

Mirrored.. You can see it a bit better in the second shot. FYI it is a 33 gal with a 250W iwasaki and 3x95W VHO actinics.

I like black...in my opinion it gives the tank a better illusion of depth, powerheads and plumbing are more invisible, and if algae starts growing on the back it looks nicer as well. I don't like the look of algae on a light blue background and powerheads and pipes stick out like a sore thumb.
I gues my second choice would be a REALLY dark blue with my last choice being clear.

Why don't you go to an artstore and buy a couple of posterboard sheets; one black, one blue. You can put them behind the tank and decide on a color before painting!
