OK, what the heck to these things eat, or do I have the most picky Anthias in the Universe? I see them occasionally picking at critters that are swimming in my water column. It hardly seems enough to sustain them...or maybe that is just nature at its finest. I have tried brine (live and frozen. I have also tried flakes (no laughing). The LFS said they are extremely hearty and not picky about diet, and all of my readings lead me to the same conclusion. It has been about 3 weeks since they have eaten anything that you would buy as food and put in the tank. Thoughts...

BTW the tank has been stocked and running for quite some time...

There is an excellent article on Anthias by Scott Michael in the library found at the beginning of this site.
I would suggest you try some garlic extract soaked brine shrimp and place them in front of a powerhead 1/4 down your tank. The smell of the garlic and the movement of the shrimp may get them an appetite.

Anthias are finicky feeders I feed my anthias frozen mysys shrimp. They devour them.

Is it true you have to feed anthias several times a day? What do you do when you are gone for a few days?

My Anthias would not eat anything but frozen mysys for the first month.

i also use mysis, there natural diet is zooplankton which i also use and they love it
