Could someone with a Remora Pro & a Maxi Jet 1200 please tell me how they put them together. Pictures along with an explaination would be great if possible.

Thanks for the help.

The Remora PRO doesn't use a MJ1200. The Remora does. The Remora PRO needs about 400 GPH to work properly and the proper pumps are either the MAG 3, RIO 1400 or one of the Eheims (forget the model).

The Maxijet 1200 attaches to the Remora via some vinyl tubing over the input to the skimmer and the output of the 1200. IIRC it is 5/8" tubing. The Mag 3 attaches to the Remora PRO using 3/4" vinyl tubing.

The MJ1200 does 295gph. Thus you are significantly underdriving the Remora Pro. If it works for you - fine. Yes the Mag 3 is a large pump, the RIO 1400 is more compact but has many quality control problems.

It's not just GPH but pressure. However as I said before if it works for you great. You also have an upgrade path should you decide to skim heavier later.

I am using the MaxiJet 1200 on my Remora Pro. I think it pumps 395 gph, which is close enough for me. The Mag 3 may work better, but it is a larger sized pump and would take up more room in the tank.
