The best thing to do is just make yourself a simple regular schedule and stick to it and you will only have to invest anout 10 or 20 minutes a day. Much better that a few hours on the weekends. My schedule is simple. Everyday I feed once and add a squirt of iodine. Every fourth day I add a squirt of alk/DKH and a squirt of phytoplankton. Every 6th day I add a teaspon of kalk. which brings me to the end of the seventh day I swap out about 6 or 7 gallons of salt water. Every two weeks i'll blow off the rocks with a powerhead. Every month I give all my pumps, tubes and skimmer a bath. And the cycle repeats. The longest I spend is the one time a month for about an hour cleaning the pumps, tubes and skimmer. So just break your responsibilities into an easy spread out time period and make sure to stick to it. It's so much easier than putting it off and having to spend a 4-5 hour day cleaning up the filth that grew in the tank.

Nah, Darkreign, I haven't given up yet. I do appreciate the living organisms I have in my tank. I guess I have been luckier, or more skillful than some in my reef keeping venture, while at the same time not as involved as others. I used to make a friend of mine envious of my tank but now he has a 125 that is gorgeous. I am definitely still into reefing, just the fact that I visit this board every day or so (at work

) proves that.. I see the question has triggered a lot of responses, so it must be a good topic for discussion. I still have things left I would like to do my tank, equipment upgrades and such. I would love to start over with a big reef ready tank. As for the inhabitants (yes my girlfriend and I have named them all), I try to do everything to keep them happy and thriving but I have failed some in the past.

I appreciate all the responses, and who knows, maybe next year I will have a web site to post pictures of the beautiful tank I will have developed. Thanks, Rich

I feel like that sometimes too! I find that I have a waning interest in the summer when you can be out doors more and enjoy my tanks much more in the winter when I shift to indoor activities. When the reef tanks and the SW get on my nerves, I shift my focus to the FW. Don't give up!

You know what. I was just thinking about your tank and everything thats in it living and stuff. I think it would be best that you give your tank away and let it go to a happy home that will take care of it. In fact I got space for one more....
