I've noticed that there are a lot of air bubbles on my DSB and live rock. Anyone know what this means?

Thanks,
ink

I'm not sure what causes it, I know I have experienced it when my tank was new. I also have a friend who is in the process of setting up a reef, and he too is experiencing it. How old is your tank? is algea gtowing? If it makes you feel better, mine went away after a couple of months.

Well, the tank has been set up for 2 years. But recently I have been fighting a huge algae outbreak which makes me feel like I'm starting a new tank again...

Ink I wouldn't worry to much about the bubbles...sounds like it's the algae photosynthesising. The problem is the outbreak of algae. Check your water parm. phosphates etc...Did you add or change anything like the photo period, new additions, feedings etc..?

If you have a DSB, it could also be by products bubbling out (or so I've heard, don't have a DSB, but am setting one up for a pond refugium). Or, your skimmer might be dumping bubbles into your tank which are settling and sticking wherever they land. When my water needs to be topped off, my pump spews tons of tiny bubbles into the tank, which stick for a few hours.

let me preface by saying i dont know jack about DSB i do not use one however i have heard.....
the tiny bubbles are nitrogen gas and eventualy release into the air thus releasing part of your nitrogen cycly out of your reef.
this is a sign that your DSB is working....or so i have heard
