Just thought I would ask what kind of corals will fare well in my 10g tank with 30 watts of light. Presently, I have some hairy mushrooms, and I would like to add another (alveopora and elegance are of particular interest). I would wait until I've upgraded to a larger tank, but that might be longer than I anticipated.

Thanks for the advice.

With 30 watts of lighting you are quite limited to your choices. Star polyps, buttons, cloves would all do well. I don't think an elegance would be an option at this point.

I wouldn´t suggest a toadstool. Mine is under high light and loves it, but i don´t think he would make it under a 30 watts.
Zooanthids, button polips, more shrooms, low light sponges are your best choices, tubastrea might be an option if you´re not a rookie and will feed it properly

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I have been exploring the possibilities of Tubastrea, as well as Star Polyps, but I keep getting conflicting info regarding their care and lighting requirements. Although I've had my tank for over a year now, I have only recently ventured into keeping corals.

Mario....Xenia will do what? Survive (and flourish) under minimal lighting conditions? This one is yet another for which I have encountered conflicting info.

I've got a 58 gallon with 45 watts total NO at the moment. There's some technical problems preventing the replacement of the former lights. Anyway, I've got xenia, green star polyps, and a toadstool all less than 8 inches from the lights and everyone looks extra-super happy. I was going to just shell out the $$ and rush a quick fix together before I left, but everything's looked great for about 3 weeks, so I decided to just leave it until spring.

Someone recommended that I place Xenia or Star Polyps closer to the lights, but I was wondering if doing this would actually work. If yours are still thriving after 3 weeks, then I guess it might work.

A toadstool or some other type soft leather may do well. I have several soft leather in a 37 gallon 24 inch deep tank with 110 watts Pc's thats about 3 watts per gallon on a very deep tank
