Well I have the 155 gal tank set up. I have 2 400wtt mh's hanging from the ceiling 12inches from the top of the tank. It is very HOT and the water is evaporating pretty heavy.(no leaks) I don't know if I'm paranoid but I'm kinda worried to leave the lights on during the day when I'm not home.

I have a ceiling fan in the room, but it this rate I will not need to turn my heat on at all this winter. Any suggestions or comments on fans or is this something that I need to get used to.

Yes they do got HOT! Leave the fan on and yes you will lose water through evaporation. With those 400watters you might consider a chiller. I know you don't want to hear that but I see you live in Texas and I know it get hot there as I use to live in Austin.

Ging, blowing a fan or two onto the sump water helps some. Most people just use one of the cheap clip on fans found at Wall Mart.

Get the clip on fans and clip them to the top of you tank and have them blowing directly up into the lights.

Hi Ging,

My sister lives in Keller, small world, so I do know how hot you guys do get. I was there last year in August. Felt like we were melting. Only cool place outside was at the community pool.

I think a good chiller will be called for. There are some good ones out there in MO's. I would also think about doing a auto top off with the evaporation. Saves on always having to be there to check up on things.

and with the dry heat you guys have it will make your chore of topping off maunally a lot easier. Instead of a daily event you can make it a three or four day thing. Just some food for thought.

Thanks for the info guys I will get the fans. I left my lights on all day and my house was still standing when I got home

Tracey, you are correct it does get hot here and thankfully I have my own pool to jump in

I will start reading about the chillers this week and try and find what I need. My main concern was the intense heat and something catching on fire. I know that is really paranoid... haha Could you please explain auto top off, I'm not familiar with that

Tell you sister if she sees a glow when she steps outside at night it is probably my house
