I had a small community of aptasia, I added 5 peppermint shrimp to my 155 gal tank (it has a large supply of live rock), and over time all the aptasia have disappeared. I did this a few years ago. Plus I still have 4 shrimps alive. As far as I know, they will not eat your cleaner shrimp.

Sometimes there are too many aptasia and you end up fighting a losing battle.

I also tried injecting them with muriatic acid wich worked with limited results. Alot of work if you have that many.

good luck.

I have a 65 gallon reef that has expoded wih aptasia. I am currently away from my tank for a month or so at a time and my mom feeds the tank but that is all. My tank has expoded with a TON of aptasia's and spot treating them will not work. I have already tried it. I added some bergia nudibranchs but that hasn't worked. I want to add some peppermint shrimp to my tank (x2). Does anyone see a problem with this? Will it kill my cleaner shrimp?

i can vouch for the peppermint shrimp doing thei jobs, i have a 55 that i tried everything to get rid of the aptasia, took every rock out of the tank and scrubed it, also tried to inject them with hot water, neither worked, so i bought 3 peppermint shrimp, its been about a month now and i no longer see any aptasia

i think you need to give them a few days to start doing their job, the first couple days i had them i didnt see any change and thought what a waste of money, but now i'm happy , i think their all gone

Andy,
I have the same problem as you in my 90 gallon. I added 4 peppermint shrimp and they have not done a thing with the aptaisa. It has been a month now.
