I am having the weirdest time with my Seabae anenome, first he looked great right out of the bag. Then he looked crappy all shrivled up. A day latter he looked great again. I tried to feed him while he looked good. He didn't take. The food fell of him and the fish at it all. He then shrivled up again and looked to be pushing what looked like his intestine out his mouth. Two days later right as I was getting ready to remove him from the tank, poof he was back again looking great. I added some DT's Phytoplankton for my clam and maze brain and it seemed he liked it too. Then I turn on the lights the next day and within two hours the stomach thing again happened. All this took place in 10 days, or less. My water params are good. Lighting is 4 pcs 2 55 day light and 2 55 true actinic. If anyone has any ideas what I should do please help.

Brett

P.S. My clown loved him then left him when that stomach thing came up. When backed to him when he returned, and left him once the stomach thing happened again. Please help.

Could be you purchassed a sick anemone. Or something is amiss with your water. You must also remember that anemones go through many changes when digesting and adapting to their surroundings. Does she ever eat or does she always let the food go away?

If she is not eating, something is probably wrong. She may be too weak to fire her nymocysts into the prey. Unfortunately, there is not much to do but give adequate light and keep trying to feed. You could also dose some selcon.

I have seen my condi expell a similar substance but only twice in 18 months.

If he likes the phytoplankton continue it I say

You can sometimes get him to feed when he is reluctant by holding the food directly over his central mouth til he engulfs it.

Mine quickly loses his feeding response if I dont feed him regularly.

Also mine does not like when I add buffer to my tank and will shrivel up for a day afterward.
