What is the best way to get rid of green bubble algae? I hate to remove the piece of rock it is on and don't really want to pull the rock and and try to scrub it off, but it is spreading quick?? Any suggestions would be very helpful???

Just pull it off. You should be able to dislodge the bubbles, or just pop them (I used to do that all the time, don't know if they spread from that, but hey, I actually like valonia, I think it's kind of cool looking when it grows upon itself and creates little bubble towers).

Nooooo.......DON'T POP IT!!!!

of course, unless you want a tank full of bubble algaes.....that could be a really cool GREEN tank too!

Mr. Reefer~

In Sprung and Delbeek's "The Reef Aquarium" - Vol 1, they specifically say to grab them with a pliers, pull them off, and do not worry about popping them. I do not have the book in front of me, but they infer there is no danger in popping these suckers.

PS. EVERY reefer should read Vol 1 and 2, IMO, and use them as a reference. This is the "college course" of reefkeeping!

after reading every response so far, i will
add mine, "knock the front of the tank with
a #5 sledge." After the carpet dries, you
shouldn't have a valona problem anymore.
i have another idea, but for the sake of
others, e-mail me privately.

I agree with this statement, mine ate all of the bubbles in my tank. I also read somewhere that a slightly high ph will help to rid this algea.

I had a bad outbreak in my 300 gal reef.I got a desjardini sailfin tang and a spotted rabbit fish, and within 2 weeks they had it wiped clean!!!!!From what I understand, the pacific sailfin tang does not really have a taste for it the way the red sea tang does. And I have since used other rabbitfish such as the foxface.Just my 2 cents.
