sweeping powerhead

I'm looking for a reliable, small, compact powerhead that will sweep 180 degrees. Anyone tried the powersweep 212/214? Thanks

tried them and like them, they do need to be cleaned every 3-4 months. Also be sure to use the sponge prefilter to keep them sweeping.

Ive used mine for the last 4-5 months with no problems...

I have used it for two weeks and it died. Replaced it, same thing. Would not recommend to anyone.

FYI, the powersweeps run more like 135 degrees, not 180.

I use two Powersweep 226's in my tank.

While I don't think they are complete crap, they do require frequent cleaning. When they work, they work as advertised and create a nice random current in the tank.

I beleive they are over-rated though, and don't produce the same output as a similarly rated Maxijet (of which I also have two).

Hi, I tried the 212, returned it to the LFS the next day, and did not try the 214. 212 was so weak I feared I would have had to returned the 214 also for same reason. Again like the people at the LFS said, it could just have been the one I purchased that was defective. It sure would have been a really good idea if it would have been a little stronger. They only carry the 212 and the 214.

(by the way it was for a 20g tank)

I tried the 212 and i crapped out on the second week. I would not recommend this powerhead to anyone. save yourself the money of replacing it and buy a good powerhead like a maxi jet or a hagen and maybe even use a wavemaster. The powersweep is a good idea but it is not constructed well, very cheap.
