How many peeps like or dislike the new sponsor page?

Maybe I missed the link, but ...

I for one do not like the new sponsor page. I hit reload/refresh 10+ times and I know I still did not get all the sponsor links to randomly pop up. It may be cool to give our sponsors more space, but can someone add a link to a page that has links to all the sponsors - like it used to be and what specials they are offering reef.org members for the month.

Because most of our sponsors were having trouble keeping their sponsor's specials up to date, we asked them to put together a special sponsors page of THEIR website, which we have asked them to manage. Unfortunately, we did have a few times when reefs.org members called a company, only to find out the the specials were no longer valid. That's not cool and we wanted to do something about it!

When you click on one of our sponsor's links, you should go to that specials page. Of course, not all of the sponsors are "up to speed" yet, but we hope they will be shortly.

We have also made it so that the sponsors banners rotate around so that no one company is always on top. That wouldn't be fair to the others.

Thanks for your feedback about the page, that was fast - we just changed it yesterday!

Cheers

That is cool with me that they rotate, but I still hope someone can link a page that lists all the sponsors with their links. I understand specials will be on their own page. It was frusterating to hit refresh/reload 10+ times and still not see all the sponsors. I like the idea that new/random ones pop up on top, but I still would like to see all the sponsors on a page.

Just my .000000000000000000002 of feedback

That page does have ALL the sponsors and if you'd like their link, click on it. Works like a charm...

And don't you think, maybe just possibly, this would be a good thread for the Questions, Comments and Suggestions forum and not the General Reefkeeping Discussion?

All I'm asking for is a little link at the top of the sponsor page that brings up a new page that has EVERY sponsor on it. I only want one logo link of the sponsor.

Again my point is that It's very annoying to have to hit refresh/reload 10+ times to try to see all the sponsors. I think it would be more fair to all the sponsors if there is a page that shows them all.

I did say I liked that NEW sponsors pop up each time you got to sponsor page. I just want to see ALL the sponsors. I also understand all the links work like a charm. But you missed my point of making a link and a page that has all the sponsors on it with one image logo/link per sponsor. (Maybe I wasn't clear but I hope this is now)

Ops, I remembered there used to be a page where we click and we will see a list of ALL SPONSORS/ADVERTISERS. I can't find the link no more. Often, when I want to find a specific sponsor, like Gatortail, I have to keep refreshing the page 10+ times to find the sponsor that I was looking for, sometimes more.

The random banner is fine, but can you have a link to show all the sponsors, so we don't have to keep hitting the refresh button.

Wow, I just tried it and got 23 banners as follows:

Marine Depot twice.
CQuarium once.
Dr Mac five times.
Advanced Aquarist Magazine four times.
Us (Inland Reef) six times.
Atlantis Aquatics five times.

Some tweaking needed methinks....

In theory they are all there, but only a set amount randomly pop up each time the page is viewed or refreshed.

Like hippo further explained on my point, when you want to get to a specific sponsor link, do you really want to click 10+ times to find it.

NOTE: I know there is a link page that lists links to vendors, but there are a lot of vendors listed on that page that are not sponsors. If I want to support a sponsor I would like to see a list of all the reefs.org sponsors on one page. Hence the suggestion to link a page that has all the sponsors on it listed once.

I'm not suggestion you eliminate the way the sponsor page is currently working, just add a link to page with all the sponsors.

MattM that is the missing link I didn't explain very well. I was under the impression they wanted sponsor page to function that way - show 6 sponsors logs a set # of times.

Try it again now. I just refreshed the sponsors page, and I can see one banner for each sponsors. You guys don't get this - get something different?

Hmmm,

when I use netscape 4.75 browser, I get the problem I been going on and on about.

I just tried MS Explorer 5.5 version and it loaded all the sponsors the way it is intended and would eliminate all my problems.

I get the same problem in both Netscape 4.7 and Opera, seems fine in MS Explorer (but I don't use it)

Here's what it's looking like to me:

Yes it works fine in Microsquish, but the code doesn't work correctly under Netscape 4.x

Ah, there is a story I have heard over and over again. It's not that it works correctly in M$, it's that M$ works on broken code when many others don't. The fact that it doesn't work in Opera, which is more like IE than any other browser, would lead me to believe something is (seriously) broken. If it matters, it doesn't work with Galeon, which is mozilla based (like Netscape 6.x). What the heck, it works with <10% of the browsers, but >90% of the desktops

This thread should probably be sumped but yeah I'm so glad the W3C sets STANDARDS for the web

Any of us who are coding on even a semi-professional basis no what a PITA it is to write code that works in ALL browsers.

But I beg to differ that Microsquish works on broken code, I think both Netscrape and MS have their issues. For instance MS has much better implementation of CSS wheras NS4.X can barely handle CSS at all.
