I have a pair of false percs currently in a 10 gallon tank. All appears to be going well but I keep on looking at them and thinking how much nicer it would be for them to have more room. (possibly my justification for setting up a larger tank)

Anyhow, I have a tank that was just given to me which I believe is a 30 gallon high (30x18x12). I was wondering if I could add a few more friends with them?
I wanted to add 4 or more false percs to the tank.
Is this too many fish for the 30 gallon?
Do you think everybody will be healthy and happy?
The only other inhabitants would be a cleanup crew and possibly a scarlet or blood shrimp.
I appreciate any comments/suggestions.
Thanks,
Brian

Brian,

My understanding is that most anemonefish species (Ocellaris clown included) should be kept in pairs or singly, except in very large systems. They will fight otherwise.

I wouldn't add more unless one of the ones you have is extremely large/larger. It is a matter of dominance. The largest becomes female and beats it's underling males into submission or death.

Thanks for the info.
I will not be adding the other percs to the 30 gallon.
So what other fish do you suggest for a peacful, community type tank of this size?
This will most likely end up being a FO tank.

Brian

Do you want a reef of fish only?

If you decide on reef you will limit your choices on fish are lessened. If you just start putting in fish you like, you will have some trouble removing them or getting inverts that are compatable.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I'll have to look into the wrasses more.
I probably will end up putting a royal gramma in the 30.
It's defenitly a pretty little fish.

I have a royal gramma in with my false perc. Beautiful colors, hardy and doesn't bother the false perc.
