What did you buy this weekend???

What did you get this weekend? I bought a blue tang, big fat scooter blenny, rototiller star fish, a red fromia star, a trochus snail (huge) and some turbos...I also added a soft coral from a buddy of mine...Oh yeah I also got a 9 watt actninc for viewing after everything is turned off.

I got a new 400 watt metal halide and built hood for it. Got a frag of Acropora. Got a big fat lawnmower blenny that survived total tank crash (LFS salt levels went down to zero after top off wasnt turned off and he was only fish that survived) and i decided he needed a good home.

The Chicagoland Marine Aquarium Socity had a coral swap meet and I bought 7 corals for about 100 bucks. I can't remember all of the names off hand but I know a couple of them: birdsnest(frag)/brain coral and some other cool ones. All survived and are doing well.

Awaiting the arival of 4 new PC bulbs, a new powerhead, some B-ionic, and a deer. ( It's deer hunting season here in WI. The "other" holiday). To sum it up, nothing yet..

I got a foxface magnifica and a blue carpet anemone from Athens Aquarium. They had a show size favia at a great price which was real tempting but just didn't have a place in my tank for it.

Well, it wasn't this weekend, but earier in the week, I paid a visit to etropical. In the past, I have picked up the 9 for 199. This time, I did the 6 deal. They have great corals that are healthy and nice in size. I also picked up 2 clams that they had. Absolutely gorgeous!

Three 4x8 sheets of AC plywood, two carefully selected prime 2x6's and 6 carefully selected prime 2x4's, a gallon of primer, and a gallon of porch and floor paint with which to build my 120 gallon aquarium stand. Also, three 20 amp circuits worth of electrical supplies to supply the "fish room" and the sump room with ample electricity. One of these days (or weeks or months) I'll have myself a working reef aquarium!

I traded in Red Sea pulsing xenia frags at the LFS, and left with a nice, large green hammer coral and a really kick-*ss pistol shrimp. Also bought some fish food. After the credit was applied, I spent $5!

The pistol shrimp is cool (when I can see him). hehe He's got blue claws. In the tank at the LFS there was a baby grouper harrassing him--and he was snappin' away. I haven't heard him snap yet in my tank--in fact, since the first day I haven't seen the little recluse--but he is cool nevertheless.

I added a Baggai Cardinal (who hasn't eaten yet) and a Hairy Mushroom with about 4 shrooms on the rock. I want to add a cleaner shrimp as well, but I already have a Coral Banded, he is very small, so if I find a large cleaner, I might pick it up.

A buddy and I ordered 16 frags from Dr Mac. He is holding them for us until the week after Thanksgiving since both of us are going out of town. Can't wait to get them! 8 corals each for $96 plus shipping...not bad.
