Anyone know a good method for this? I have some that are starting to encroach on a orange Monitpora I have and has casued that section to retract its polyps and bleach. I know you can use a kalk paste to stop shrooms stumps (going to do that for some that are getting to close to a Serioatopra after I cut the shrooms off). Would this work for the remaining GSP mat if I prune it off as well? Thanks.

Iv'e also got the same problem with my GSP colony. Its now seemed to have reached maximum growth by itself. It seems to have been contained by some macros and stuff i have growing out the cracks and the GSP cant get past it. On areas i have had to remove them its been fairly easy, they seem to come off in one big sheet once you have an edge loose from the rock. Only problem then is that you dont remove too much. I aslo have to types of torch corals that seem to do very well at keeping it at bay. I have to pull out a huge square of the stuff off my back wall every now and then, the largest piece i pulled out was almost the size of Letter paper. Watch out with it though, its quite aggressive stuff, and has been reffered to as a weed by some people i know. Good luck, and easy does it.

Mine is well contained on one side by Hammer Coral. On a couple of sides it seems to have stopped where it goes close to some Acropora.

I've found it somewhat easier to peel off before the lights go on, when the polyps are not extended.

Did I mention that I also just started a nano/prop tank that I'm using an old skilter 250 on ?

Check your other post and tell me the name of the SPS in your main tank I have the same one that came as hitchhiker.

Or you can position rock/rubble at the perimeter of the GSP's and when they attach to the rock and encrust some of it you can cut the mat and take it into the lfs for store credit or whatnot. Somoetimes if you're lucky, you can get a finger nail underneat the mat and peel it away from the substrate.

Only thing I ever saw that checked their growth was green mushrooms. Lesser of two evils I guess....

I wise man once said two things you should never add to an aquarium; 1) mushrooms 2) GSP....

Which is exactly why neither will be going into my new tank.

I am going to try the kalk method Righty mentioned. I have used it with shroom stumps after I have cut them off and it worked there. Boxing them in using some LPS corals isn't an option since these are encroaching on some of my SPS corals and I don't want to subject them to a possible sting by a hammer, frogspawn, etc. Thanks for all your advice.

You can also try to kill if off by applying Kalk paste to it. Mix some up by adding tank water or hot r/o water to some kalk till it is like toothpaste. Suck it up in a syringe (I like to add some rigid tubing to the syringe as an extension) and carefully put it onto the GSP you want to stop. Make sure your pumps are off so the kalkpaste stays in place for 20 min or so. Then you can either leave it, or siphon it out. It may take several applications, but this method has worked well for me.
