i have a 40 gallon reef with CC.
I also have a 55 gallon tank thats empty.
What i want to do is replace the cruched coral on my 40 G. Would there be a problem if i moved everything from my 40G to my 55G tank to replace the CC with a 4 inch DSB? When the CC is replace i would like to build a reef rack and place eveything back im my 40G. I have mostly shrooms and GSP, BSP and a few fish.

Any ideas or if this is dangerous.

TIA

Sounds like a fine plan.

BUT, I would (carefully) transfer the water from the 40 to the 55 to minimize the shock to your inhabitants. Then I'd removed the crushed coral, add the DSB, etc., but in new water and let it cycle to the extent that there is die-off etc. in the live sand. (Oh...you didn't say whether it was live sand or not....guess if you are not using live sand, you don't have to worry about the cycle; then, I'd just put in new SW and let it age for 24-48 hours.)
