I have an Oceanic 75 reef ready with pre-drilled overflows (although cannot remember the sizes and am not home now-- whatever is standard). I´m deciding on overall water circulation strategy. I'll have a 20G DYI sump, and have already bought an aquac 120 skimmer.
QUESTIONS:
1) a mag500 pump is recommended for skimmer. should i use it dedicated for skimmer or can i get a much bigger pump and then use the same pump for skimmer and return?
2) how does the plumbing usually work? i know in the same overflow box there is a second hole for the return line. i've heard instead of dividing the return into 2 (or more?) pipes and then returning it to opposite corners of the tank (perhaps connected to sea swirls?) if so does it come in via the same pre-drilled hole in the overflow? does that get plugged?
3) for whatever recommended setup, could someone make specific recommendations (pumps, plumbing, etc.)
