Here is the 220 gal being setup... check out the Starphire tank, lacquer stand, Euroreef CS12-2, 2 ampmaster 3000s, 2 1" swirls, lots of PVC.

Still lots more work to come... whaddaya think?

Update:
Fired up the pumps at 4AM this morning... couple of leaks in the threaded joints but none in the glued pieces. All fixed.

Biggest problem is that running the Ampmaster through the 1" chiller is killing my flow. I am exploring replacing it with a larger pump.

Otherwise system works great. The flow from my closed loop / Swirls is phenomenal. Adding rock tomorrow.

Regards,
Kris

Nice one, looks very good mate. Two questions though, firstly in the second picture whats the big white drum both of the pumps are connected too, and secondly what are those little box of tricks the outlets are plugged into??????

Mouse:
The white drum looks like a heat exchanger for a chiller... I wonder where did BerlinMethod.com got his... I am looking for one for my NesLab chiller.

Kris, was looking at your seaswirls and the box sits on the tank correct? The part that goes into the tank, how big does that hole have to be?

I have a acrylic tank and have 3 x 3" holes drilled in 3 corners of the tank for the purpose of gemini. Can I use these holes for the seaswirls?

Mouse - that is my 1/3 hp UMI chiller... the black boxes are 1" seaswirls (rotate the outlet for oscillating flow)

toptank - my holes are all 3", so yours should work fine.

Nice looking set up. Flexable PVC tubing was a God-send for my 60 gallon set up. I see you used some too.

Where did you get that see through check valve that is mounted above the chiller? I would like to get one of those.

I can see what is killing your chiller flow, it looks like the intake into the heat exchanger necks down to 3/4" fitting. If there was some way to mount a larger fitting there, I would. That would go a long way to reducing some of the head that pump is pushing against.

ReefMon - I lost the cover but apparently the chiller runs better without it... UMI is a good chiller plus they are close-by if I need support.

C. Alan - That check valve is from Marine Depot. $20 something in the 1.5" size. Yeah, I am considering teeing off from the main line for the chiller line so that all the flow doesn't have to go through the chiller.

Kris,

Did you just remove the chiller cover, and why? And what's your impression of the UMI unit?
