I used red slime remover made by ultralife reef products.alot of people dont believe in chemicals but worked for me with no side effects.Just make sure you take the carbon or whatever filter media you use out and turn your skimmer off for 48 hours.

In appropriate conditions I fall into the "use an antibiotic" school of thought.

Although I am against chemical warfare with cyano(last resort ONLY)....
Eurthyomycin, Maracyn 2, I believe is a cheaper alternative.....there are other way to combat cyano as noted above.....

I had it in the sand around the front of my tank and all I did was siphon it out with some of the sand. Haven't had it anywhere else though.

I would ****highly**** recommend phoshate remover to get rid of it. Worked great for me. You could also get a lawnmower blenny- not as reliable, they were recommended to me. Changing old bulbs is also a remidy-if applic. I would def. reccomend the phos. remover before the cyno begone products though. Others dissagree though.
