Okay here are the pics taken earlier today. The skimmer has been in operation for 6 days, the cup was emptied and cleaned 4 days ago.

I think it's too new to be listed yet. As I mentioned, I think it will be about $225 from us, and that's both in-store and online.

We'll have to get a couple overview photos done before we put it online though.

$170 is a hell of a price, looks like a sale too, they must be getting them substantially cheaper than we are the best we can manage is $219.95

That white is from the foam, the skimmer is clear plastic.

Noise levels are extremely subjective, whats loud to me may not be to you etc. That said, I can't hear it in operation. Except.... remember this skimmer is running in an LFS. There is such a cacophony of water moving through various systems that unless the skimmer sounds like a tree chipper it gonna be considered quiet =)

For what it is worth I just put my ear up near the skimmer and it doesn't seem to be all that loud. A low level hum, but I'd say a Remora Pro is louder.

I wouldn't expect to see a full line of these skimmers, though a hang-on skimmer is usually in the pipeline on something like this.

also we have introductory pricing now... $189.95 with free shipping

Nope not really, the skimmer is tuned and running just fine, producing enough skimmate to empty the cup once a week. Seems to be a tad too dry and may be building sludge, I haven't looked at it closely since I last emptied and cleaned the cup last Friday. It's only been two weeks, ask me again in another month or so LOL, but to date I see no reason not to recommend this for people looking for a decent budget skimmer.

Howdy,

Sounds like this skimmer is closely rated to the Euroreef CS6-1, which runs about $250 and sometimes cheaper on sale.

The Kent skimmer sounds nice, but why is it priced so high considering the quality of the matierials? It looks like very cheap clear PVC tubing and some thin ABS black plastic thrown together.

Kent is one of the better "large" companies out there in my opinion. I use their additives and other miscelaneous products with alot of satisfaction. I just find it hard to spend that much when there are better built skimmers in the same price range.

It seems to me a person would be better off saving up a few more bucks and buying an ETSS, Euroreef, or AquaC. All those skimmers can handle large tanks, and have a proven history of fine quality and workmanship.

The Kent skimmer looks like it should be in the $99 dollar price range, based solely on the materials it is made from. Heck, the Seaclone looks more sturdy.

Scott.

Well, thanks to introductory pricing from Kent we've been able to keep it on sale for $169.95 since this thread started. We have sold quite a few of them at this price.

For performance, I'll let Tom answer as he goes back there and sees it more often than I do.

It's working just fine - never really adjust it, just empty and clean the cup and it keeps on trucking. Quite satisfied with it - unlike some skimmers that peform great at first then peter off, this thing seems to indicate it's in for the long haul.

Have seen some build quality issues with them. Had a fella return one the other day because the cone at the bottom of the unit was either not glued at all or properly - so that one is going back to Kent, had another customer complain that the output tube would sometimes collapse on him - this is the adjustable tube that relies on friction to adjust the height of the water level in the skimmer. IIRC he used a zip tie below it to prevent it from happening again.

For the money I think it's a great skimmer for the 55-90 gallon range, if you want no holds barred quality and performance buy an AquaC or Precision Marine. As always you get what you pay for.
