i added a 2inch pistol shrimp to my tank and i think i have less hermit crab, doy ou think the pistol might be eating them? i hear cracks all through the day and night so i know he's doin something
From my experience, pistols will not kill hermits. I have had a pistol shrimp in my tank for about 8 months and have not lost any hermits to date. Those clicking sounds that you hear are usually just warning clicks, telling any neighboring fish, or hermits, or invaders to get back. If the hermit were to invade his territory, then MAYBE this could happen, but i have yet to experience it. HTH
