I have 3 yellow damsels, I have had them for over a year. Recently though one of them is having an identity crisis. He/she keeps going to one corner of my tank and swishing it's tail back and forth creating one big pile of sand. It also tried doing this in a nother spot, but gave up there and went back to the corner. Anyone else have a retarded damsel with a case of mistaken identity? or know why it would do this? No I don't use RO/DI... Lol! I can see it already, if you use RO/DI water all your probs will disappear. HA! Seriously is this a problem, other then the moving of sand?

My very first SW tank i had I filled with damsels to cycle and there wasn't much else in the tank. All the damsels made little bunkers in all corners of the tank. I could watch them pick up rocks with their mouths and excavate their little bunkers. Anyways I guess my point was From my experience they were just looking for a place to hide.

I think they are nesting when they rearrange things. My black and white damsels do that too. Sometimes I'll drop a medium sized shell in there just to keep em busy, every once in while I will hear click, click, click as the shell hits the glass. Then my Humu Humu will come along and pick it up like a toy ball and move it somewhere else

.Mine have been doing this for 4 years. It's usually my male one who does the redecorating just before having to guard a rock or coral covered with eggs
