I have my 105 in my great room. The tank is on one end wall and the entertainment center is on the other end wall. I have a swivel chair that is situated in the middle so I can turn and be in the front of both.
Ya, these are some very interesting places for sure! It sounds like alot of people have there tanks in the dining room and the living room/kitchen area. Which is very good as well. I find I spend alot of time in my bedroom so it would work out for me to have it there. There is alot of planning in this location size, but its gonna be worth it all when its finished.
Can't wait to here where other individuals put their tanks....
My 120 gal is in our sitting room, along with cocktail cabinet/music system. Just a 3 seater and 2 single seater lounges in there, no TV. Quiet and not a lot of movement in there so you can watch the tank in peace. Also, its on the south side of the house so doesn't get a lot of outside light/heat.
My 55 gallon anemone reef is in the living room. The 29 gallon freshwater planted river tank is in the basement. And the 125 gallon pond is in the yard.
Just moved into the new house and the 125g reef acts as a room divider between the living room and the family room. It is visable on all 4 sides and the 125g sump/refugium is in the basement. The tank is the first thing you see when you walk in the door.
My 100gal reef tank is in my living room/front room which is the first room you enter from the front door. A single recliner style Ikea chair in the room serves as a relaxing veiwing location. Added benefit is that it is the first thing you see when you enter my house.
My 12gal Eclipse hospital/quarantine tank is in my den/entertainment room against the left wall between the couch and the TV. Not much to see in that tank (Just sand, live rock and some crabs and snails), but that's ok because most of the attention in that room is dedicated to the home theatre.
I keep my reef tank in my bedroom across from my bed. I would have put it in the living/dining room but 1st of all that is where the CAT lives (in a few expieriences he has escaped and we have caught him on top of the tank swatting at the fish) and plus I like to check up on the reef several times a night and it is just easier for it to be close. We have recently added a 45 FO tank in the hallway to go to the family room/office. Infact while I type I am watching the lil' fishies swim around in their lifelong search for the exit.
I have a 55 gal reef in the living room.
A 50 gallon acrylic 6 1/2 foot tall fresh in the living room.
A 10 gallon pod tank in the living room.
A 8X8 pond outside.
Like Canadwest, our tank is the first thing you see when entering the house. It stands in a small alcove at the back of the foyer, and can also be seen from the LR. The only disadvantage is that's it's tough to get people to come all the way into the house - they hang out in front of the tank - guests, friends, UPS guys, etc.
We've got a 2nd bedroom that is currently seeing duty as a den/office. There's a couch in there that's set up at a right angle to the tank. Nice for viewing, perfect for nappin.
My tanks are in my "critter room" on the first floor with my 2 parrots and bearded dragon. The birds appreciate the warm, humidfied atmosphere in the Winter! Also, the first floor is directly on a concrete slab and convenient to a small bathroom.
My little 30gal is in the living room. HOWEVER, next spring we'll be moving to Dallas and I'm planning 100gal or so as a room divider. If any of you with 3 or 4 sides viewable and built into the wall, have pictures I'd like to see them as I plan this thing out!
170 gallon in the living room , right next to the TV (it wins most nights). Two more, 55 and 80 gallon prop tanks in the back room. I can't believe those that have them in the bedrooms. I have my tank set to run as silent as possible but I don't think I could sleep next to it. I guess you get used to it with time.
My 110 is in our "playroom". This is a room which is 35'long by 28' wide. It sits along one wall and our entertainment center sits along the opposite wall. This is also the room with all of my kids toys, my wife's exercise equipment and all of my guitars. For such a large room it sure is crowded!
My living room. I wish I had situated it in a dedicated fishroom though; the noise is a little distracting when listening to music or watching dvd's. But then again, the reef is the very first thing you see when you enter my house.
