As a point of pride, I'll be paying for my next tank completely thru cutting sold to various lfs.
I've got enough saved up for the tank and lights already.
I plan on setting up the tank after the first of the year. But if I do that it will be as much as 6 months before I add the CA reactor.
I believe I've read that its more difficult to dial in a reactor on an established tank. True? If so, how much harder is it? Would I be better off swallowing my pride and adding the reactor from the start?
The tank will be either a 125 or 150gal. I have a few stony corals from current tanks, but prbly nothing that couldn't be maintained by dripping Kalk until I crank up the reactor.
Thanks, Dan

I would have thought the opposite, it's easier to add to an established tank when everything is stable. I added mine when the tank was eight months old - It will still take a little dialling in, but the same would be true whenever you add. I would stay with the original plan and add later when alk/calc/PH are where you want them. I still drip kalk with my topoff water but no longer add any chemicals and stopped adding B-ionic.

If you ask me, there's always a little "dialing in" going on. What I mean is I adjust it once or twice a month.

I see no reason adding it to an established tank would make any difference.

BTW, 6 months really isn't what I or most people would consider established
