Hi! I had both of those. They would probably be fine. The randallis are quite the characters to watch with their high spotted dorsal fin going up and down all the time. You can really tell what kind of mood they are in. The catalinas are pretty shy and skittish though for the first little while. Then they get settled in and are all over the place. You gotta watch the temp though since they are a colder water fish. I tried to keep my tank around 76 for those guys. Nasty case of ich wiped them out. I was sad to see them go, they are neat little critters and colorful too!

PS. you should also be careful what other fish you have as well as neither of these fish are really aggressive feeders. They tend to stay at the bottom of the tank.
That's cool that someone posted this question,as I have a neon, and wanted to see about adding a fire goby, although I don't know if it is technically a goby or a dartfish,or if there should ever be a problem between them...anyone?
Remember: the catalina gobies come from cold water... Better keep two randalli's together, they'll make a very interesting addition. It's best to keep them with their symbiotic pistol shrimp..
I had heard that firefish gobies were part of the wormfish family. I don't really know what that means since I've never seen a wormfish
I have two firefish gobies in my tank right now 29G. Now I heard (after buying them of course) that you were supposed to keep one per 20G but I haven't had any problems at all since adding them. I also heard that they don't do well together (ie. more than one per tank). I guess you kinda have to take this info with a grain of salt since there are always at least 5+ in a tank at the LFS. Anyway, mine are doing fine. They are pretty but not as fun to watch as some of the other fish I have.
I also have a clown goby which I would recommend to anyone. What a cool fish. He is such a character. He is a bit more aggressive than the fire gobies when it comes to feeding but they all seem to get along. I also have an ick prone red headed goby (anyone had any experience with this problem??) that is fun to watch. I haven't had any experience with the neon goby but the firefish gobies are pretty docile and can get easily spooked if I get too close to the tank too quickly but then I'd probably freak out if there was a 6 foot eyeball peering in my window too
