I walk in the house and notice more light reflection on the wall than usual. Turn the corner and <splash splash splash> with each step.

I look in the tank (180 gal reef) and the Rio 2500 i have for some circulation (waiting on my other Sea Swirl) has fallen off (damn suction cups) and is on the live rock with the output facing up.

Of couse, the water level is now about 5 inches too low because it is now on the floor. The return pump is sucking air and the Nurce is empty. All on the floor. I had to top off the tank and the Nurce. Took 45 gallons, lots of towels and a Rug Doctor rental.

Moral of story: don't trust suction cups or replace them regularly.

Similar thing happened to me when the rio from my remora pro came off and splashed a few gallons out. At least your not in an apt.

FWIW using a small blob of silicone under the suction cups keeps them in place, I wouldnt be using a rio. The 2500 model is notorious for melting down in tanks.
