Pump question??

I am building a sump for refugium/alternate light cycle. I have a 55 gallon tank with 6" DSB, Prism skimmer. I am in need of assistance as to what flow of pump I should use. What would be the ideal flow rate???

Recommend pumps for the suggested flow rate. I also want a pump that is going to destroy as few pods as possible on the return.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Is the refugium you are going to build be underneath your aquarium? Will it sit on top of the tank? This will help me determine what you need.
You shouldn't create a refugium where the powerhead or pump takes water out of the refugium but rather have gravity return water from the refugium to the tank system. Also, you want a slow flow rate through the refugium at about 2x-5x the size of the refugium.
