I just purchased a new MJ 1200 powerhead for my 75. I currently have two additional 1200's in the tank for current. I plugged the new one in and was amazed at how much more current it generated than the two older 1200's. I cleaned the intakes on the older MJ's with no noticeable improvements. I'm wondering if replacing the impellers in the older 1200's would do the trick. Has anybody out there tried this with appreciable results? Any other suggestions are welcome.

Mine seize if I don't clean them monthly--I soak the impellers in vinegar overnight to dissolve any CaCO3 that builds up in the impeller internals.

try that before you replace them.

hi.
Make sure you can spin the impeller in the shaft freely. There should be very little friction.
