Here is analogy for ya...
Zooxanthellae are like a UPS(backup power supply) for a computer. Sure it can run it if you lose power(how long though?. Does that mean you should do it on purpose? Why not, just do things right and use it for what it was meant?</STRONG>

Current methodology is to feed the animal with good water conditions and strong light. Do you have a different suggestion? There is some discussion on another board regarding the validity of the statements by Ron on reefcentral. One of the things I felt deserved recognition in Ron's defense was that he was merely theorizing that they can live without light and not suggesting it should be done. I also said that people would know this reading the thread, (and was disagreed with), and yet here we are.
