NO GOLDFISH! Goldfish are nutritionally useless, and I have been told they have some sort of protein inhibitor or something like that. I used to use a lot of feeder goldfish, but haven't done so in years. You're better off weaning your lion off of live fish anyway (I had one eating floating veggie sticks before) so that he doesn't eat your other inhabitants later on (which he probably will later anyway, especially those shrimp - who sold him to you as a good reef inhabitant anyway?).

he's a dwarf, and not very agressive. but i did not know that about goldfsh, is there a better alternative? But i do like freshwater fish because, they are not nearly as messy in my tank as brine. if they die they float to the top, and i can take them out.

Try mollies, they are fresh and saltwater fish, and can survive if he doesn't catch them, or rosies or guppies for their "floating" ability.

Ghost shrimp will work also, but then, you're training him to eat your shrimp. Dwarf lionfish is a contradiction, by the way, as they can get fairly large, I think about the size of a fist if I remember correctly.
