I have a mag float 350 for my 100 gal. It 's great.
However, If I try to use it on my thin wall tanks, the magnet is too strong. I jusr put a towel between the outside magnet and the glass and it slides okay then.
Hi Karm40, I have not tried the Tunze magnet but I do have a Magnavore-4 for my 180 acrylic tank. It was a little expensive, but one of my better investments so far. You never have to worry about it falling off, and I leave mine in 24/7. The thing is so strong it makes cleaning a snap.
I have a Tunze magnet. It's great - it's *almost* impossible to make it fall off. I can move the magnet back and forth with great vigour and it dosen't fall off.
I word of warning though - those magnets are very strong - do not get the edge of your figer caught between them as I did in the shop. Think of it like grabing a piece of your skin with pliers and then squeezing as hard as you can - if you don't believe me then try for yourself
I would check out Algae Free Magents "The Hammerhead Float" is a great magnet for 1/2" glass or acrylic. Its much stronger than the Magfloat and has a larger cleaning area than either the Magnavore or the Magfloat. You can get them from Premium Aquatics, Flying Fish Express or you can go to Algae Free website at . Algae Free
Has anyone ever used a Mighty Magnet? I have the Mighty Magnet 4 for my 90 gallon and this thing is awesome. I have trouble separating the two pieces if they have accidently come together. It will clean even the tough little algae circles that form some times. They are quite pricey and can be found at www.mightymagnets.com and no I don't work for them.
