I just wonder if I would super glue the purple layer of closed gsp to the dry aquarium glass (during w/change),would that work?
Would be great to have the back of the tank decorated with a live wall of gsp.

i think we're on the same page ClearBlue. I'm wanting to get my back wall covered with encrusting gorgonia (erythropodium). Two days ago i leaned a polyp-covered rock against the back wall. I figure if it ever gets started, then it'll really take off. But if i could super glue some small polyp covered rubble to various spots, then it seems like it would spread faster. like plugging a lawn. I've never tried the super glue below water. Maybe somebody has...

my old tank back wall was covered with GSP, until I sold the tank back to the LFS. He loved it and is one of his display tank now. The actual rock was on the top of the rock works, way high up. the GSP spread from the top and then spread lengthwise until the whole upper back wall is all covered. GSP did not spread lower though, probably because not much light hit those area. The whole spread took about a year in the 75G

I was thinking about setting up a 20 gal and let the GSP go mad. Throw a couple of clowns in there and have some eye candy. The recent thread on GSP taking over made me that much closer. I am however getting quite a nice covering of corraline on my back glass(45 %) that stuff Grows like xenia!

In the olden days of reefing when I had a glass bottom w/o substrate I had a big patch of GSP covering a good part of the bottom. It will attach to glass just like LR. I have no doubts that you could get it to grow up or down the sides of a glass tank.

Thanks everyone!
So,after all,my idea is a good one.
You have to know,I have my first s/w tank since January 2001 (I'm not an expert).
Here are my new questions:
- How many shades of gsp are existing?
(this thing might go by the sea of origine,or regions, etc)?

I have one rock with a very nice light-yellowish-green center gsp and one with just brown center (not so nice).
The yellow is doing great, the other is ...hmmm, just fine.

- What will encourage the coralline to grow?
Thanks.

Well...
- under the flickering lights and compareing to the others, lets make it pink.
(at least, the antennaes are smaller and the centers are a lot less coloured than the other ones).
Since I've got the 2 of them from different places,I think,it is normal to behave differently, (the pink one opened after a week, the yellow one right next day).

Have a look at some pics of them growing on the glass, on my page, if you wish.

The back is now, half covered with yellow poyps and encroaching star polyps. Both sides, have large, layering colonies growing on them.

Yes it will. I took a piece (about the size of a dime) off GSP of a rock and glued it to the back glass. 3 months later I have an area about the size of a dinner plate on the back.
