Skimmer question

I have a question about using a skimmer without a sump. Can we use a Aqua-c EV 180 or a Bullet-2 without a sump? Can it stand under the tank " all alone with a pump" without any overflow risk. I want to buy a skimmer for my 130g and everyone told me that any H.O.T. skimmer can do the job. Please help me.

Won't work - both are not designed to pump water above the skimmer (in this case from the stand back to the tank). Actually they both do best if the return is located above the water level in you sump. Aqua C and Precision Marine do make other HOT models though. I would do a search here for more info on HOT models and ratings.

Bowfront is correct. A skimmer will not be able to drain up, it creates too much back pressure and would overflow the collection cup in short order. Check out Aqua C's website www.proteinskimmer.com I saw where they made a hang on skimmer custom for someone out of a EV 150 I believe. You might want to contact Jason to see how much he would modify it for you. HTH
