purple algea

i have a 55 gal. fish and reef tank. recently i upgraded my lights from 4 40 watt flourescents to 4 55 watt compacts. i a have noticed a lot more algea growth in my tank but i am curious about an algea that kind of looks like a purple coralin algea in color but looks kind of like a hair algea.
is this good algea?
anbody know what i might be seeing?

It sounds like what i hade in mine. It dident harm anything. But it did disapear after i put my lawnmor bleny in ther.
I gess he preferd fresh algea to dried. cont says that i blame him.

i wouldent wory about it.
