Check your local Walmart or grocery stores, it's pickling season someone has to have them in stock.

What about Ball's Pickling Lime? Same stuff, essentially? I can find that locally, but not Mrs. Wage's.

OK, just did a thread search for "Ball's pickling lime" and came up with responses that indicate Ball's and Mrs. Wages are essentially the same. A little less Ca(OH)2 than straight Kalkwasser mix, but apparently the extra material in the mix has no ill effects on the system. On one of the threads there is a link to someone using Ball's with good results. I've e-mailed him about it, and I'll post the info if/when it comes in.

Got a brief e-mail back that said he had reservations about Ball's at first since the quality was an unknown, but it has worked fine. So I guess we have an alternative for those of us who can't find Mrs. Wages.

Ball's and Mrs. Wages are essentially the same thing.
Word of advice: 6lbs Mrs. Wages ordered over the internet and shipped to my house $14.61
10lbs of Ball's bought at a local Super WalMart @ $1.27ea $12.70

Cheaper to buy locally. Unfortunately, I have yet to find it in anything but one of the "Super" stores. Regular K-mart and Wal-Mart were no-gos. Had to do the Super store to find it.
